The aim of this portfolio is to help St Monnica’s become a spiritual home, one that is alive with the Holy Spirit. A place of true worship, of sharing, of peace, joy and compassion. A place of trust, where you know you will not be judged. There are many ways of achieving this, but the first thing we have to do is to grow our own spirituality.  St Monnica’s will not become that place, unless we as individuals first make the effort to become more Christ-like and to allow the Holy Spirit to work through us. How can we do this? One way is to become involved in one (or some) of the areas above.

We need people to lead and join more Bible Study groups, to volunteer for home visiting, to form a monthly prayer group that will concentrate on the needs of St Monnica’s and its people, and we need more prayer ministers.

We offer quiet days, retreats and Spirit-led courses. Some of them can teach you how to pray or to realise what your gifts are. We offer prayer ministry, counselling and  Spiritual direction.  We can offer you, on loan, more than three hundred Christian books – we need a dedicated Sunday librarian to facilitate this.

Of course, this is not the only way this can be achieved.  Look at the other portfolios – worship, hospitality, youth, education, outreach, fundraising, communication, property.  Spirituality weaves its way through these and every part of our lives.

Use your gifts - become involved in something. Contact any of the portfolio leaders. It is so exciting!  Or just learn how to be quiet, to be still, to listen to God.  The next quiet day we are having is on Saturday the 20th October in Beaulieu – it will be led by Revd Vicentia.  As Tony de Mello states, “silence is the great revelation”.
