TEAM CONFERENCE
Archbishop of Cape Town and Metropolitan of the Church of the Province of Southern Africa At a meeting of the Anglican Primates in Kanuga, USA in 2001, I have been tasked with the responsibility of moving the Anglican Communion forward by addressing the vital social issues of poverty, trade, debt and HIV and Aids.
Through a series of dialogues and discussions it was decided to host a conference called TEAM: Towards Effective Anglican Mission, an international conference on Prophetic Witness, Social Development and HIV and Aids. The consultation aims to enhance current initiatives in social outreach work that seeks to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The vision of the conference is that members of the anglican communion will meet in a context of prayer and theological reflection; sharing diverse experiences and views on specific social issues; and renewing the church’s commitment and capabilities to respond to god’s call to service in the 21st century.
It is with great joy and enthusiasm that the Anglican Communion will use the opportunity of this conference to interact with specialist in the field of social development as well as practitioners within the Anglican Church working in the areas of social development as well as HIV and Aids to
create relevant local models for programme activities that ultimately seek to alleviate poverty through the achievement of the MDGs.
We are grateful for the support of the many donors to this conference. You will find details in more information on these donors by clicking on their websites/icons.
This consultation will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa in March 2007. The Church of the Province of Southern Africa looks forward to welcoming you to this auspicious occasion/consultation.
Grace and Peace to you
